Beenox takes over the Spider-Man games!

Yeah, yeah, I'm late on reporting this, but just incase some of you haven't catch it, here's the scoop on the future for "Spider-Man" video games at Activision:

The future of the Spider-Man video game franchise rests in hands of developer Beenox.

The studio has been named "lead developer" on upcoming Spider-Man titles, Activsion said today. Beenox, based in Quebec City, Canada, developed last year's surprisingly good Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions.

"Beenox's creative vision reinvigorated the Spider-Man gaming experience among critics and fans in Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions," said Patrick Kelly, Senior Vice President, Activision Studios.

"We can't wait to see where this talented studio will take this franchise in the future."

The publisher has struck out with many of its past Spidey titles. Spider-Man: Web of Shadows (2008), Spider-Man: Friend or Foe (2007), and Spider-Man 3 (2007) all received below-average press scores.

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick even publically expressed his disappointment in an interview from last January saying, "Our Spider-Man games have sucked for the last five years. They are bad games."

Andrew Garfield on the Stunts in "Spider-Man" PLUS On-Set Photos of Andy as Peter Parker!

Here's an excerpt I found while browsing through The Los Angeles Times. It's Andrew Garfield, the star of the upcoming "Spider-Man" reboot, talks more about his role in the movie, and the stunts he had to pursue. Take a read below:

I imagine it won't be hard to find an audience for your next movie...the Spider-Man reboot.

(Laughs) What if no one sees it? It'd be hilarious. Maybe there'll be boycotters. My self-sabotaging makes me want to head the boycott.

But this is the role you've played since you were a child.

Yes. On Halloween. Bedtimes. Tuesdays. When I was auditioning, my parents sent me a photo of me as a kid in the Spider-Man costume. I gave it to my agent, and my agent slipped it to the studio as they were making their decision.

What skinny kid wouldn't love that character? I can't overstate enough when you start to actually identify what's happened and you go, "Yeah, I did dream of being Spider-Man when I was a kid." I'm trying not to lose my mind about it. But it's not superficial to me. It's not frothy or frivolous.

That sense of responsibility nicely dovetails into the character, doesn't it?

Yes, the overriding theme of the comic is: With great power comes great responsibility. And, yes, I feel a huge sense of pressure and responsibility. fun too, right?

(Laughs) We're two weeks in. The first week was full of stunts, and I've never felt happier in my whole life. I'm all bruised and scratched up, and it feels really good. It's just me throwing myself up against walls, which is incredibly fun and painful and testing my manhood. It's a childhood fantasy I'm living out.

Click here to view the rest of the photos of Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, sharing the scene with Emma Stone in the role of Gwen Stacy.

Pretty cool, huh? He does have the look of Peter. But what do you think? Please let me know what you think in the usual place below! Thanks! =)

The untitled Spider-Man reboot hits theaters in 3-D on July 3rd, 2012.
